The concept of preserving history, collating full archives, making them as usable as possible so the public has access to them, I really feel that it allows the public an ability to engage with their own history. – Sarah Harrison

Mission Inn Museum
My first work in the field of History was in the subject of Archives. In January 2006 I took on a job to volunteer at the Mission Inn Museum. The Museum was tied to the Historic Mission Inn Hotel. My work involved reboxing materials, using cotton gloves to carefully index original blueprints of the mission inn hotel dating back to the turn of the century. I worked at the Mission Inn from January 2006 to September for 5 hours every Thursday. All materials including original manuscripts and films were entered into a database in Microsoft Access.
Cal State San Bernardino / San Bernardino County Museum
Student Archival Assistant – From January to May 2006 I worked in the San Bernardino County Archives examining police records related to gambling records of San Bernardino’s Chinatown. I worked as an assistant to Dr. Joyce Hanson as she studied San Bernardino’s Chinatown, for a manuscript she was working on. The data was entered into a Microsoft Access sheet.
San Jose State University
I took two classes related to archives during my MLIS:
LIBR 256 – Archives & Manuscripts, Spring Semester 2010.
LIBR 284 – Seminar in Archives & Records Management, Summer 2010.
Personal experience Family Genealogy
digitally cleaning personal family genealogy photos has also given me experience in media preservation. Using Pixlr.com for a lot of my work I have edited hundreds of family photos with great attempts to restore many materials over 100 years old. One working Example
Barstow Community College

I worked with over 300 items in the Libraries Archives. Organized and cataloged materials.

Since a history assignment to interview my grandmother in High School I have been interested in family history genealogy. This subject hobby combined my future instruction together including research history and teaching!
